September-Measure-Mat Nasi Band

BHS teachers talking about assessments

How do you truly measure learning?  This is a tough question.  At the end of September, teachers spent part of an in-service day discussing this very thing with other teachers both in and out of their departments.  While the time was used well, it was only the beginning of the work that needs to be done to determine whether or not students are truly learning what we want them to learn in our classes.

An over-fished ocean
Here a few more classroom highlights from the last week of September.  In Bridger science classes, students learned about the ideas of scarcity, mis-management of resources, technological advances, and government regulations by participating in a simulation involving Goldfish crackers.

In Trades and Industry classes, local firefighters trained students on the proper use of fire extinguishers in case of emergency.
